12 Plus Size Swimwear Pieces to Wear All Summer Long and Beyond

Now, before we dive into swimwear let’s take a moment.

Deep breath in, and out. Repeat after me, all bodies are bikini bodies.

Repeat.

You may, or may not, know that I am in recovery from a lifetime of body dysmorphia and disordered eating. I’m going to dive into that, except to say that I am the heaviest I’ve ever been and yet happier in a swimsuit than I’ve ever been.

Seems strange?

So many different things have brought me to this point, including so much therapy.

Here are my tips for loving that body of yours right now:

1. Fill your feed with as many different body shapes and colours as possible. You literally need to reprogram your brain from believing the misogynistic and toxic fashion industry that focuses on your destruction for profit. You are BEAUTIFUL.

2. Meet yourself where you are. There are plenty of reasons to still be aiming to eat more healthy food and move your body beyond goals of thinness and youth. One day you will be dead and I can guarantee that you will not be worrying about excess pounds/kilos as you draw your last breath. Seek pleasure in all things, focus on what FEELS good. If your body doesn’t feel good, start arguing back with your brain until some healthier thoughts creep in.

3. Look to Gen Z. As a parent of one of these amazing humans I can tell you that this generation is striving for body acceptance (even harder with their lives lived online) and putting clothes on their bodies that we wouldn’t have dreamt of trying on at their age. Notice them on the street and in the mall, they have bellies and stretchmarks and wear short shorts and midriff tops and they look glowing and gorgeous.

That’s it. Tell your brain to shut up with the negativity already, wear the clothes, forgive yourself and understand that ALL of this is a construct for profit and the subjugation of Women.
